Dr. Cecchi is originally from Rome, Italy. After completing her Ph.D. from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, in 2010, she joined UNC Charlotte as Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and researcher in the Power Systems Modernization cluster of the Energy Production and Infrastructure Center (EPIC). Her current research interests include developing line models for modern power systems, investigating the impacts of distributed energy resources on the grid, and studying novel distribution systems planning and operation techniques.

Dr. Cecchi was the engineering faculty mentor for the UNC Charlotte entry into the prestigious U.S. Dept. of Energy Solar Decathlon competition in 2013, in which the team won 3rd place in engineering. She was also the recipient of the Charlotte Business Journal 2013 Young Leaders in Energy award.
